The day had come when I was FINALLY going to be able to shoot in one of my FAVORITE neighborhoods, Queen Anne, located in Seattle. Queen Anne is filled with beautiful houses, gorgeous views of the city and endless shooting opportunities! I only wish I lived closer! I was waiting for my clients to show up and I saw this couple wearing Santa hats using their phone to take a photo of themselves. #selfie! lol (I love hashtags...they're fun. I'll try to keep them under control!) I offered to take their photo for them, and came to find out it was going to be their Christmas card. Super cute idea.
I started thinking, "I should offer to take a photo for them with my camera and email it to them." Then the debate started in my mind, "No, Jamie. That's just weird and awkward!" "Just go for it! Who cares..." Anyway, for some reason, I become shy when it comes to photography. I absolutely love it. But I used to fear that when I told people I'm a photographer, they wouldn't like my work or the end result. So I let people come to me rather than putting myself out there and risking rejection. That day, I was brave and offered to take a photo for them. I am so thankful I did. I could not have offered that gift to a more grateful couple. We began to talk, and I felt like a new friendship was made.
I had always wanted to do a couple's session in Seattle and I felt like Kristen and Stephen were the perfect couple with whom to go exploring and have some fun! They knew the area better than I, make a handsome couple and they are so much fun! We started at the Space Needle, headed over to EMP and then took a short walk to The Mural Amphitheater. We took a quick drive (yes, it happened in Seattle!) to Queen Anne, stopping at Kerry Park where we first met. (I sound like I'm talking about a date! But I'm not. I can say, though, that Queen Anne is magical... for photographers. Okay, back to my story.) We finished up at Discovery Park, and at the end of the day we ended up with some wonderful memories, great conversations and amazing photos. To date, this is still one of my all-time favorite sessions. It will be hard for me to limit how many photos I will share on this post!
I'm thankful that I broke past my shyness and have nothing but GOOD to show for it! I'm thankful for new friends, discovering new locations, and awesome photos that make me smile.
Until next time!
